I have never in my whole life felt pulled in so many different directions. I have also never felt like I'm constantly going from one thing to the next with no break in between.
Living in a college town, and with Jarrod attending pharmacy school at the local university, we have a lot of friends who are college students. When they share with us how stressed they are about their classes or what they are going to do this summer/next year/after graduation, we secretly covet their stress! Remember what it was like to only have to worry about getting yourself up for the day? Oh, man.
These days I have three tiny humans who literally cannot function without me, plus the dog, plus my husband, plus my job. Right now Collin and Grady are both getting over ear infections. Daycare called us on Monday and said Collin was just crying and crying because his right ear hurt. We've been dealing with some need for attention issues, so I had no idea whether this was real pain or phantom pain. Thankfully Jarrod was done with class for the day, so he went to pick up the oldest boy only to be grabbed in the hallway by the littlest boy's teacher. Turns out Grady was being even more fussy than usual. One double whammy visit to the pediatrician's office revealed a pair of ear infections - right side for Collin and left side for Grady.
The next day Jarrod started to not feel well. Weird things going on with his heart rate and some fever/chills. The past few days have included Jarrod sleeping on the couch with 15 blankets and having tests run all day yesterday to rule out appendicitis. It's not appendicitis, but it is some severe infection (swollen lymph nodes) requiring an antibiotic fit for an elephant. Sleep deprivation and pharmacy school have taken their toll... I guess that just goes to show everyone who thinks we make this look easy, that it ain't so easy!
Speaking of not so easy...we went to Texas a few weeks ago for the wedding of one of Jarrod's fraternity brothers. We turned a 6 hour trip into a 7.5 hour trip, and it was not fun for anyone! By the end, I think everyone had shed some tears!!
Thank goodness for my in-laws who kept the kids so Jarrod and I could enjoy the wedding. We've never been away from the twins for that long, and it was weird to not have someone on my hip, or pulling my hair, or wiping their snotty nose on my shoulder. Odd but strangely nice :)
These two turned 10 months old while we were in Texas. They are more and more fun each day. Such a handful but also such a joy! They are both crawling, pulling up, waving, clapping and eating on their own (when they feel like it). Grady says, "Bye", and Atalie says, "HI". We're working on using Mama and Dada in context. They love Collin, especially Grady. So much so that his daycare teachers are not ashamed to go find Collin at school when Grady is having a meltdown. I think that's sweet, and I'm so happy Collin has a brother to love like this. Atalie loves her Daddy in a way that only little girls can, but she likes to sit with me in the bathroom and get ready. I put my hair up in a high bun the other day for probably the first time she's ever seen, and she would NOT stop staring at me and smiling this goofy grin. I can't wait to have a little shopping buddy :)
This is what we call "Sassy Face". She purses those lips and snorts in and out of her nose. #allthesass
Love these sillies!
This boy just started crawling and already all he wants to do is pull up on EVERYTHING. Every. Thing.
He just started timidly cruising around the coffee table this week, so we'll see if he walks before sister.
This is our life. Watching these three crazies... Babies pulling up on everything, exploring, touching and tasting anything they can get their hands on while big brother is never too far away. Because heaven help us if he should miss out on something that the babies are doing!
